Abercorn
Working as a journalist in the
Canberra Press Gallery is enough to drive
anyone mad but rather than move onto
another bureau, Tim Stevens, and his young
bride Connie, upped and left knowing
exactly what they were going to do. They
were going to buy a vineyard in Mudgee
simply "because Mudgee makes the best
reds".
Allandale
is a modern small to medium size winery
situated in the Lower Hunter Valley wine
growing area just north of Sydney
Australia. Established in 1978 and over
the time has built an enviable reputation
for premium quality varietal wines. Over
the last few years the winery has sourced
grapes from the Mudgee area, the Hilltops
region (near Young, NSW), McLaren Vale and
of course predominantly the Hunter Valley.
Bidgeebong's
wines
are made from grapes grown on the South
West Slopes of NSW - an area emerging as
the source of some of Australia's most
interesting and exciting premium and
super-premium wines. The 'Bidgeebong
Triangle' encompasses three distinct
districts: Tumbarumba, in the foothills of
the Snowy Mountains; the Hilltops
district, centred on the town of Young;
and the Murrumbidgee plain around
Gundagai, on the Hume Highway, about half
way between Sydney and
Melbourne.
Bloodwood
Estate
is synonymous with quality wine and food
of the rapidly emerging Orange Region. We
(that is Rhonda and Stephen Doyle) planted
the pioneering wine grape vineyard of the
area in the Spring of 1983. Although there
had been no previous experience with
commercial wine grapes in the district,
these first Merlot Noir vines we planted
thrived in the warm, free draining gravels
of Bloodwood and the first vintage
yielding 650 litres of exciting varietal
essence duly followed in April 1986.
Botobolar's
22-hectare vineyard established in
1971 is Australia's oldest organic
vineyard, the vines have always been grown
organically without the use of pesticides,
herbicides or chemical fertilizers.
Growing grape vines organically in balance
with the environment, not demanding too
much from them or the soil, hand picking
and pruning, and creating handmade wines
all combine to deliver to you, good value
premium organic wines.
Welcome to
Briar
Ridge.
We are very proud of our wines, and we are
delighted to be able to share them with
you. Sip on a Briar
Ridge
wine and you'll find intense fruit
flavour, a refreshing lightness, and
distinctive Hunter characters. Taste one
for yourself and see. Or else ask the show
judges. They've awarded Briar Ridge wines
numerous trophies and medals.
Established
in 1970, Brokenwood
Wines
has evolved from a weekend venture for
self-professed hobby winemakers into one
of Australia's most reputable wine labels.
Brokenwood was founded by a trio of
Sydney-based solicitors -- Tony Albert,
John Beeston and James Halliday -- who
paid a then record price of $970 per acre
for a 10-acre block in the foothills of
the Brokenback Ranges.
Canonbah
Bridge
wines and Rams Leap wines are produced in
New South Wales, Australia by the John R.
McLaughlin Family. Robust Australian red
wines include a shiraz and a
Shiraz/Grenache/Mourvedre blend. Elegant
white wines include a Semillon/Sauvignon
Blanc and a Methode Champenoise sparkling
wine (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot
Meuniere).
Capercaillie
Wine
Company was established in the Hunter
Valley by Alasdair and Trish Sutherland in
late 1995 when they built a small modern
winery on an excellent 20 year old
vineyard. Alasdair is a Scot, and his
heritage is reflected in the very name
'Capercaillie'. It is the Gaelic name
given to the black woodlands grouse,
native to the pine forests of Scotland.
The
Casella family has been making wine since
1820 - first in Italy and since 1965 in
Australia as Casella
Carramar
Estate.
Filippo and Maria Casella emigrated to
Australia from Italy in the 1950's
bringing with them their hopes and dreams
and the know-how acquired through three
generations of grape-growing and
winemaking in Italy.
Situated
on the Pacific Highway just south of Port
Macquarie on the New South Wales mid-north
coast, Cassegrain
Wines
is a wonderful place to visit for a taste
of tradition.
The
Chalkers
Crossing
vineyard
and winery are in Young in the Hilltops
Region of New South Wales, about 150 km
north-west of Canberra and 200 km
south-west of Sydney. We planted our first
vines in late-1997 and made our first
wines in March 2000.
Small,
family winery dedicated to making
distinctive, handcrafted wines
Clonakilla
's wines are made in limited quantities
and can be a little hard to find. They are
worth the search. We make a range of
wines, but our speciality is wines made
from two varieties which have their
original home in the Northern Rhone valley
in France: Syrah (Shiraz in Australia) and
Viognier. Our flagship is a Shiraz
Viognier blend.
A boutique

is
located at Pokolbin, in the heart of the
Lower Hunter Valley, NSW, Australia.
Producing 3000 cases per year, Constable
Estate Vineyards has retained its image as
being one of the most beautiful and
successful vineyards in
Australia.
